Cambridge Raman Imaging (CRI), the coordinating partner of the CHARM project, recently participated in the Focus on Microscopy (FOM) 2024 conference in Genoa, Italy. Held from March 24 to March 27, this event is renowned for bringing together leading experts and researchers to discuss the latest advancements in optical microscopy and its applications in biology, medicine, and materials science.
At FOM 2024, CRI had the opportunity to present its innovative multimodal broadband coherent Raman microscopy technology. Represented by CEO Matteo Negro, who also serves as the coordinator of the CHARM project, and Benedetta Talone, CRI showcased the latest developments in their technology during the poster session. This groundbreaking technology aims to revolutionize biomedical imaging and enhance chemometric histology, which is central to CHARM’s mission to improve cancer diagnostics and support pathologists in their critical work.
Reflecting on the positive reception at the conference, Matteo shared, “Benedetta Talone and I had the chance to showcase our unique multimodal broadband coherent Raman microscopy technology and received valuable feedback and endorsements from the microscopy scientific community.”

Participating in FOM 2024 was particularly significant for CHARM because the conference covers many areas directly relevant to the project’s goals, including advanced fluorescence imaging, super-resolution imaging, and coherent Raman spectroscopy.
Benedetta Talone reflected on the experience, stating, “It was an incredible experience connecting with experts, exchanging ideas, and exploring cutting-edge advancements in microscopy. Together with our CEO Matteo Negro, I had the chance to present the latest developments of our technology during the poster session. Grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to applying insights gained!”
These topics are essential for developing new technologies that can provide faster, more accurate, and less invasive diagnostic tools for pathologists. Engaging with the global microscopy community helped CRI and CHARM align their innovations with the latest scientific advancements and the evolving needs of the medical field.
