Cambridge Raman Imaging (CRI) has completed the installation of its advanced CORAL microscope at Universitätsklinikum Jena, marking an important milestone in the CHARM project’s development.
The installation represents a significant step forward for CHARM, as CRI’s innovative label-free broadband coherent Raman spectroscopy platform will now undergo rigorous validation in a clinical environment. The microscope will play a central role in analyzing tumor biopsies as part of the routine pathology workflow, providing valuable real-world testing of the technology’s capabilities.
Eric Fantuzzi, CRI’s Microscopy Development Leader, traveled to Jena to oversee the installation and work alongside the Biophotonics research group at Universitätsklinikum Jena. Fantuzzi’s expertise in microscope development, system integration, and interface design proved essential in ensuring the successful deployment of the CORAL technology.

The successful integration at Universitätsklinikum Jena brings CHARM closer to its goal of demonstrating the clinical viability of this advanced imaging technology. As the microscope begins operation in this clinical setting, the project team will gather crucial performance data that will inform future development and potential broader implementation.
Further updates on the CHARM project’s progress will be shared as this important research continues to advance.
